Ce jeudi 12 septembre 2024, le Président de la République du Sénégal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a pris une décision majeure en annonçant la dissolution de l’Assemblée Nationale, conformément à l’article 87 de la Constitution. Cette décision inattendue pour certains, intervient à peine cinq mois après son accession au pouvoir.
Le chef de l’État a franchi une étape décisive en mettant fin prématurément à la législature en cours. En principe, selon les dispositions constitutionnelles, une dissolution de l’Assemblée ne peut intervenir qu’au terme de deux années de mandat parlementaire. Néanmoins, le président Faye a obtenu l’aval nécessaire pour précipiter cette démarche.
En conséquence, les électeurs sénégalais sont appelés à se rendre aux urnes le dimanche 17 novembre 2024, pour renouveler la composition de l’Assemblée Nationale. Cette annonce ouvre ainsi une période de campagne électorale intense, avec des enjeux cruciaux pour l’avenir politique du Sénégal.
La décision de dissolution soulève de nombreuses interrogations et alimentera sans aucun doute les débats dans les semaines à venir, à l’approche de ces législatives anticipées.
