À l’occasion du 9e sommet Chine-Afrique, qui s’est déroulé à Pékin du 2 au 7 septembre 2024, l’Université de Parakou (Up) a fait son entrée parmi les 50 institutions africaines sélectionnées pour bénéficier du premier plan de coopération sino-africain, initié par le Président Xi Jinping. Ce choix découle directement de la qualité de la gouvernance et des efforts en matière de coopération internationale du recteur, le chantre même de ce haut lieu de savoir, Professeur Sogbossi Bocco Bertrand.

En marge du sommet, de nombreuses rencontres de haut niveau ont rassemblé à Pékin des acteurs clés de l’éducation supérieure. Parmi eux, le Recteur de l’Université de Parakou, le Professeur Bertrand Sogbossi Bocco, s’est particulièrement distingué. Invité en tant que panéliste lors de la table ronde inaugurale de la 1ère Conférence du Mécanisme d’Échange du Consortium des 100 Universités Chine-Afrique, il a partagé sa vision sur les modèles de coopération éducative à l’ère du numérique.
Dans ses interventions, le Professeur Bocco a mis en lumière les défis auxquels sont confrontées les universités africaines, notamment en matière de fuite des talents formés à l’étranger, tout en soulignant les progrès réalisés. Il a aussi plaidé pour un renforcement de la coopération dans le domaine des infrastructures, avec un focus sur la construction de laboratoires modernes et de centres numériques pour soutenir la recherche et l’enseignement à distance en Afrique.
Partenariats stratégiques et nouvelles perspectives
Au-delà des séances officielles, le séjour du Recteur à Pékin a été ponctué de rencontres bilatérales cruciales pour l’avenir de l’Université de Parakou. L’une des plus notables fut avec l’Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), un partenaire de longue date, qui a réaffirmé son engagement à soutenir les projets de recherche et de formation de l’UP. Le Professeur Bocco a également échangé avec des représentants d’autres institutions chinoises prestigieuses, comme Zhejiang National University, Beijing Foreign Studies University et Shanghai Donghua University. Ces échanges se sont traduits par des accords de principe et l’ouverture de nouvelles pistes de collaboration qui placent ainsi l’Université de Parakou sur une trajectoire ascendante au sein du paysage universitaire africain.
Des retombées positives pour l’Université de Parakou
Grâce à cette dynamique, l’Université de Parakou consolide son positionnement en tant qu’acteur clé du développement de l’enseignement supérieur en Afrique. Avec l’intégration au Consortium sino-africain, elle se dote d’un levier stratégique pour attirer davantage de partenariats, stimuler la recherche, et surtout, répondre aux attentes croissantes de la jeunesse africaine en matière d’éducation et de formation.
Cette avancée marque une étape importante dans l’histoire de l’Université, qui s’apprête à exploiter pleinement les opportunités offertes par cette coopération pour devenir un centre d’excellence en Afrique de l’Ouest.
