Dans une nuit marquée par des débats houleux et des échanges passionnés, l’Assemblée nationale du Bénin a rendu son verdict sur la proposition de révision constitutionnelle portée par le député Assan Seibou, président du groupe parlementaire Bloc Républicain. Selon la nouvelle tribune Info, la proposition a été catégoriquement rejetée, jetant ainsi un éclairage sur les dynamiques politiques en cours dans le pays, avec 71 voix en faveur, 35 contre et 02 abstentions.
Face à cette décision, le parti Union progressiste le Renouveau (UP-R) a réagi avec véhémence à travers un communiqué publié par son secrétaire général, Gérard Gbénonchi, signifiant ainsi son appui indéfectible à la solidarité stratégique entre les différents groupes parlementaires de la majorité. Soulignant la fermeté politique de ses 4 députés, l’UP-R a affirmé que ce résultat était prévisible, mettant en lumière le blocage de la minorité qui a circonstanciellement amplifié son rejet.
Dans ce contexte, l’UP-R a également pointé du doigt le parti Les Démocrates pour son refus catégorique de toute discussion visant à parvenir à un consensus politique sur la proposition en question, arguant que celle-ci visait à améliorer le système électoral béninois et à le rendre plus cohérent avec le régime politique en place. Pour l’UP-R, cette décision reflète davantage l’approbation populaire que le rejet, promettant de renforcer et de protéger la voix du peuple.
De manière plus globale, le parti dirigé par Joseph Djogbénou a réaffirmé son engagement à ne pas démanteler le système partisan en place, insistant sur sa responsabilité à promouvoir une politique vertueuse axée sur la protection durable de l’ensemble de la population, plutôt que sur les intérêts immédiats de groupes ou de classes spécifiques.
Cependant, au-delà du clivage traditionnel entre majorité et opposition, un fait notable a émergé : le rejet de la proposition de loi par sept députés de la mouvance parlementaire, dont quatre provenant de l’UP-R et trois du Bloc Républicain lui-même. Cette dissension interne soulève des questions sur les motivations sous-jacentes à ce rejet et sur les dynamiques politiques en jeu au sein même du Bloc Républicain.
Alors que le Bénin continue d’évoluer sur la scène politique, cette fracture au sein du parti au pouvoir laisse planer un doute quant à la cohésion et à l’unité de ses membres. Qu’est-ce qui a poussé trois membres du Bloc Républicain à rejeter une proposition portée par l’un des leurs ?
